The ridge across the Great Lakes continues to slide eastward and will reach the commonwealth Friday before becoming stationary. Conditions will remain clear for an extended period of time with very dry air in place. Look for the ridge to strengthen over the weekend and continue to dominate the weather pattern across the northeast, keeping all organized precipitation out of the area. Overnight temperatures will be allowed to fall rapidly after sunset each evening with limited cloud cover and light winds. The cooler evenings will likely result in valley fog formation, which may be the largest hazard this weekend. It appears we can expect large diurnal temperature shifts for the next several days as the dry weather continues, with high temperatures approaching July-like levels.
