Synopsis
The cold front that brought a day of excitement with our first measurable snowfall, will move out of the state and a northwest wind will bring cold air for the rest of the week, with snow flurries mixing in.
Short-term(Thurs-Fri)
A deep trough will continue to sit over the state through tonight and eventually move out for the day Thursday. With the trough hanging around the chance for snow showers will linger. The low pressure will kick in a cold northwest wind for the Thursday and Friday and this will help temperatures only reach the mid 30s. The with this chilly wind, lake effect snow will be prevalent through the weekend.
Long-term(Sat-Sun)
An upper-air disturbance will move in for the weekend and could produce snow flurries, especially to the western areas of the state. The lake effect snow will still hang around as a low pressure system in Canada continues to bring a northwest wind onto the state. With 850 mb temperatures on the GFS at -10 Celsius, there looks to be no warm up in sight. The trough should also keep the clouds around and I don't see a lot of sunshine in the next 5 days.
