Monday Night Technical Discussion

Synopsis

Cooler air will continue to make its way back into the region along with a short wave that will give the majority of the state a chance for some snow early this week with calmer conditions to follow for the weekend.

Short Term (Now thru Wednesday)

We currently have a northerly flow that is bringing the state cool air. With a significant jet streak in place over the Northeastern U.S. and high pressure to the west, a short wave will provide a significant chance for winter precipitation late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as it wraps around the high pressure sitting off the coast, with the best chance for snow Northwest of Gettysburg and mixed precipitation and rain for the Southeastern portion of the state. By the afternoon the precipitation will be making its way to the Northeast of us bringing us clear skies by Wednesday night.

Long Term (Thursday into the weekend)

Mostly clear skies will return to the majority of the state for Thursday as high pressure dominates over the region and remains in place for the weekend, bringing sunny skies and dry weather. Early next week there will be a deep trough that will bring cold arctic air to the Northeast.
