Synopsis: A coastal system will slide up the eastern United States on Friday just brushing the southeastern portion of the state. Elsewhere will remain dry. High pressure moves in briefly on Saturday bringing sunny skies across the state. A clipper system will brush by to the north on Sunday bringing a few light rain showers, with the highest chances in the northern part of the state. After that, we enter a wetter but warmer period for next week.
Short Term: Temperatures warmed up quite nicely today after a chilly start. Warm air advection, associated with a northward moving disturbance to our south (coastal), allowed warm air to filter in to the state. A high cloud deck has filtered in as well out ahead of the storm. The coastal storm will take a track that will just barely brush the southeastern portion of the state (KPHL). The rest of the state will see morning clouds, but sun will increase later in the day. High pressure slides in for Saturday allowing sun to rule the region.
Long Term: A clipper system will brush by to the north on Sunday. Some light rain showers are likely in the northern portion of the state with a slight chance as you head south of I 80. A draping cold front will move through as well, bringing a few light rain showers, but nothing substantial in terms of QPF. A strengthening disturbance in the plains will slowly make its way into our region as the week progresses. A stalling front will drape across Pennsylvania and will present warm, but wet conditions for much of the week. The system will pick up steam later in the week as it moves northeastward and will bring heavy rain and possibly a few rumbles of thunder to the commonwealth.
