Synopsis
A cold front has started to move through and will continue to move to the south through the area tonight. This will bring much cooler temperatures and dry conditions for Friday. Behind this front, an area of high pressure will build into the commonwealth Friday evening and remain entrenched until the middle of next week. Throughout this period, temperatures should average above normal.
Short Term
The cold front has already pushed through the area this afternoon. Most stations are reporting northerly winds behind this front. Temperatures should continue to fall tonight but clouds will prevent most locations from dropping too far tonight so there should be no threat of fog Friday morning. Later in the day Friday, a ridge of high pressure will move into the area. Skies will be clear Friday night into Saturday. Expect temperatures around normal to above normal. MOS generally has highs in the lower 50's and low in the upper 20's in many locations.
Long Term
High pressure will continue to dominate our weather through Wednesday. Generally dry and clear conditions will prevail with warm days and cool nights. Diurnal ranges should be big with this strong anticyclone over the region. As it slides off the coast Tuesday, temperatures will warm up more mid-week as the winds turn more southerly. This should bring above normal temperatures Tuesday into Wednesday.
