Wednesday Afternoon October 12th, 2011

Synopsis:

A tropical Low pressure system is currently above the Commonwealth and will begin to leave the area in the early Thursday morning hours, leaving a chance for showers Thursday morning. A Low atop the Great Lakes will bring more precipitation and cold advection Thursday evening going into Friday evening. It will finally clear out Friday night leaving dryer conditions for Saturday.  A High will move into the area on Sunday, rising temperatures for the next work week.

Short-Term:

The tropical low will continue to drench the commonwealth overnight as it begins to leave the area. The Pittsburgh area will be alleviated from the precipitation first as it moves north east. A Low atop the Great Lakes will bring another chance for showers Thursday night, including a slight chance for a thunderstorm. The showers should continue Friday morning and dissipate moving into Friday night. The cold advection will drop temperatures into the mid-50s by Saturday.

Long-Term:

As the Low above the Great Lakes continues its path northward into Canada, the Commonwealth should see dryer and colder conditions for the weekend. Temperatures should rise again on Sunday as a High moves into the area from the west.
