Synopsis: Late-Morning fog for Pittsburgh Metro/Laurel Highlands/North Central regions will burn off and join the rest of the state in the three letter word 'SUN', as high pressure works into the region, which will remain for at least the next 5 days. Low temperatures along the Northern Counties run the risk of seeing frost tonight and tomorrow night as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.
**BOTH MODELS ARE IN AGREEMENT OF BIG PICTURE
Short-term: High pressure starts to take its grip on the Commonwealth, meaning the end of nasty, cooler, late fall like weather for some time. Temperatures under clear skies tonight look to drop into the 30's and 40's with the chance of the Northern Counties of seeing temperatures around or below that freezing mark. The only thing to worry about is where those sunglasses are, besides how warm those temperatures will go. The NAM looks to be the cooler of MOS after today. The ideal solutions is to go between the models.
Long-term: High pressure will continue to sit over us for the weekend, with the associated upper level ridge stuck in place over the Ohio River Valley. This will allow for warmer weather to be funneled up from the south/southwest, helping temperatures go above average for this time of year (average is around 62-64 during this period). GFS extended MOS has the mid and upper 70's making a comeback for the end of the forecast period, which is 10-15 degrees above normal. Something vastly different as much of the state last week was 15-20 degrees below normal.
Kept temperatures near previous shift.
