Wednesday October 5th, 2011 Afternoon

Synopsis: A high pressure enters the region, and will stay put for at least the next 5 days. Low temperatures will drop as cloud coverage diminishes. Areas such as the Northern Counties run the risk of seeing frost tonight and into tomorrow night as temperatures hover near the freezing mark. Everywhere else across the commonwealth will see temperatures in the mid-40s overnight this work week.

Short term: A high pressure will envelop the commonwealth leading to warmer temperatures during the day and much cooler temperatures overnight, as cloud coverage remains very minimal. Temperatures overnight should be around the mid-40s excluding the possibility of 30s and frost in the northern counties. High temperatures look to rise as we head into the weekend into the mid-70s in some places.

Long term: A high pressure will continue to envelop the commonwealth moving into this weekend, as an upper level ridge remains fixated over the Ohio River Valley. Warm advection will be channeled up from the south leading to increased temperatures around the mid-70s in some places.
