Friday Afternoon Technical Discussion

Synopsis

The dry weather pattern we have been seeing is over as a chance of thunderstorms is in the forecast for Friday night. A sunny weekend is in tap for us, but we can expect rainy conditions to return for the beginning of next week.

Short Term (Friday Night – Sunday Night)

The high pressure system that dominated the northeastern United States bringing with it sunny skies and rain free weather will be scooting offshore tonight as a cold front moves in from the west. The cold front will bring a chance of scattered thunderstorms for the western parts of the state. The eastern parts of the state should remain dry but a scattered thunderstorm of shower isn't out of the question. High pressure will build back in after the passage of the cold front and skies should remain sunny for the entire state with dry conditions as well for the rest of the weekend.

Long Term (Monday Morning – Tuesday Night)

Monday during the day should be dry but cloudy for the entire state but Monday night two low pressure systems will be approaching Pennsylvania. One centered in Southern Ontario and another centered in Central Virginia. The low pressure system in Virginia is taking a classic Nor'easter track up the Atlantic Coast and into New England. These two low pressure systems will bring rain to the entire state with the heaviest amounts being in Eastern Pennsylvania since the Nor'easter like low pressure system is stronger of the two low pressure systems. Tuesday night, the low pressure systems will meet in upstate New York in the Adirondack region and combine into one system moving up into Eastern Quebec. Rain should be over for the entire state by late Tuesday night.
