Synopsis:
After making landfall in southeastern Louisiana, the remnants of Hurricane Isaac have finally made their way into the Ohio Valley and will begin to impact our state tomorrow. A trough from a strong low in southern Canada will also be impacting our region mid-day Tuesday and into Wednesday. The current 0000 UTC NAM and GFS runs are in agreement on the basic interactions between the two systems. These interactions should be monitored closely, as they will be a significant influence in the development of ordinary to strong storms in PA.
Short Term:
Expect rain bands from Isaac's remnants to begin affecting us around mid-day on Monday. Higher reflectivity model outputs in the afternoon may signal the development of stronger storms. After a bit of clearing Tuesday morning, it's the same story again – the possible development of strong storms in the afternoon, along with any interactions between these storms and the cold front moving through. Again, this situation should be monitored closely.
Long Term:
According to both NAM and GFS runs, skies should begin to clear around mid-day Wednesday. NAM indicates clearing skies through Friday, while GFS shows a small trough swinging through the state Thursday night. Either way, not much precipitation is expected to follow after Wednesday. After a week of unstable weather, sunny skies will usher in low humidity and temps in the upper 70's – a perfect start to the weekend.
