Synopsis:
High pressure that has been affecting the commonwealth will start to move out to sea. This will allow for a cold front to approach the region late Friday night cooling the temperatures down for the weekend. A low pressure system will bring unsettled conditions to the region by late Sunday into early next week.
Short term: Thursday -Saturday
Sunny skies will prevail for Thursday over the commonwealth as high pressure continues to rule our weather. With 700mb humidity only in the 10-15% range Thursday should be pretty cloud free, except for morning fog in the valleys. Friday will be a changing weather day as clouds build throughout the day with a cold front approaching by nightfall. This could lead to widely scattered showers across PA, but the GFS/Nam point to very little in the way of measureable rain. Conditions should clear for Saturday and Sunday morning as high pressure builds back into the region. 500 mb heights will be lower so except temperatures to be five degrees below normal.
Long term- Sunday – Monday
This looks like a much more active period as clouds start to build Sunday night ahead of a low pressure system. By Monday afternoon the GFS has rain overspreading most of PA. Some of this looks to be on the heavy side.
