Perfect weather this week!

Synopsis:

A relatively strong (1020 mb) area of high pressure from Canada will move over the Commonwealth and the northeastern United States for today, and stay with us through the workweek. After this past Saturday's cold FROPA with strong thunderstorms and heavy rain, and yesterday's wraparound showers due to moisture at the upper levels, all the rain has been scoured out, and we should not see any rain until possibly this upcoming Saturday. Sunshine and gradually warming temperatures through the end of the week will be this week's theme - but it will be delightful everywhere across the Commonwealth!

Short-term (Monday and Tuesday):

An area of high pressure is moving over the Commonwealth for today. With a NW flow in the upper levels, expect sunshine with below-normal temperatures this afternoon. Tonight, once the ridge axis begins to develop, we will see calm winds, and temperatures getting quite chilly (most areas across PA in the 40s, with possibly a few isolated 30s as well). Expect this same pattern to linger during the day Tuesday and into Tuesday night, with wall-to-wall sunshine and pleasant temperatures during the day. With longer nights and more outward radiation, we will see chilly conditions Tuesday night as well. Warmer temperatures will occur Wednesday and through the rest of the week ...

Long-term (Wednesday into the weekend):

The flow in the upper levels will start to turn SW by Wednesday, which will translate into warmer temperatures during the day for the rest of the week (70s and some 80s across the SE areas of PA). Winds will be coming from the SW starting Wednesday night, which means milder temperatures overnight (more 50s than 40s). 570 mb. heights stay to the south and west of us, however, so we will not see any really hot weather this week (just a little above normal for this time of year). Moisture in the upper levels will try to move in starting Friday, so it will most likely be more humid by then. However, since this area of high pressure is going to be so firmly entrenched, we should really not see any more than a few isolated showers and perhaps a thunderstorm once this system (cold front) moves through on Saturday.
