Synopsis:
High pressure will be in control for the rest of today. A cold front with a low over the SE US will head into the northeast by Tuesday. Monday looks rainy (warm front) while Tuesday looks stormy (cold front). The rain should clear PA by midnight Tuesday into Wednesday. High pressure from the lower Ohio River Valley will build in for Wednesday and Thursday before another cold front/ upper-level low moves in late next week.
Models Used: 12Z NAM (HI-RES), WSI RPM, GFS, ECMWF, SREF; Confidence: High
Short-term:
There are two branches of the "jet stream" (weak ones). They will likely phase over the NE and produce rain and thunderstorms, some severe. The SPC gave Eastern and Central PA a 30% risk and western PA a slight risk. Instability will be a concern for severe storms over western and central PA thanks to rain ahead of the front.
Long-Range:
A cool-down is likely. High pressure will move into the region quickly. Now sure when the cold front/ UL low moves into the area, but models showing one likely to affect the Temple game.
