Synopsis: Surface high pressure will remain in control through the end of the week. A cold front will pass through during the day Saturday. Large area of troughiness will dig in on Sunday.
Short Term: A beautiful rest of the day is in store for the region. Large area of high pressure is docked right over western PA. Other than a few stratoculumous clouds, due to a relatively cool airmass moving over warm lakes, a clear night is in store. Low dewpoints and clear skies will allow for radiative cooling. Temperatures will dip into the low 30's for higher elevations and northern locations, while most areas will see lows in the upper 30's to low 40's. High pressure will remain in effect for Thursday. Though the day will start on the chilly side, warming 850 mb temps and clear skies will allow for a mixing of the boundary layer. Temperatures will rebound into the 70's for most loacations with beautiful conditions.
Long Term: High pressure will slide offshore by Friday, allowing the east coast to be in a southwesterly flow. Warm advection and partly sunny skies will allow for a nice rebound in temperatures. The state will see the warmest temperatures in a while, with upper 70's possible in some locations. A moisture starved cold front will pass through northern locations during the afternoon hours. This will bring with it some cloudiness at most. Another cold front will pass through Saturday, this one with much more moisture and a temperature gradient to work with. Showers are expected, but defintely not going to be a washout. Behind this front, a deepening trough will delve into the eastern U.S, sending its axis through on Sunday. A few showers are possible for Sudnay also. Troughiness will last a couple days before slowly moving out. Seasonably cold temperatures can be expected early next week, with a gradual increase as the week wares on.
