High Pressure Dominates

Synopsis:

A relatively strong and prominent high pressure system will dominate the weather until Friday evening. A cold front will pass through the commonwealth on Friday bringing a chance for showers and clouds. Cooler weather will follow as another high pressure sets up and continues the calm weather through the weekend.

Today/Thursday:

The center of high pressure will scoot to the east of the region tonight into tomorrow. This will set up a southerly flow that will bump temperatures near 80 across the majority of Pennsylvania. Clear nights will allow temps to cool rapidly and allow for some fog to form near rivers and in valleys, especially in the northern half of the state.

Long-term Outlook:

A cold front will move through on Friday bringing some cloudiness as well as a few showers. The bulk of showers will stay in the northern half of the state. Precip amounts look to be no more than a half inch. After the cold front exists, expect cooler temperatures with northerly winds. Another high pressure will move in bringing calm and pleasant conditions for the rest of the weekend.
