Synopsis:
A strong upper level-low crossing over the Mid-Atlantic region will move offshore later tonight bringing an end to the snow across the state. High pressure will build in from the Mid-Mississippi Valley through Friday afternoon bringing fair and dry weather. A strong cold front will move through the state later Friday night bringing an arctic air mass for the weekend.
Short Term:
Current radar images show that the snow has ended for western Pennsylvania and will end across the rest of the state around Midnight. Accumulations should range between a coating to as much as 2 inches where the heavier snow bands fall. Skies will clear overnight and fair weather will prevail across the state until Friday afternoon as high pressure moves in from the Mid-Mississippi Valley. Temperatures will be near normal as highs will be around 40 in the Northern and Central part of the state with upper 40s in the southeast.
Long Term:

Some snow showers are possible with the passage of the front, however, model QPF suggests that less than tenth of liquid equivalent will fall which is equivalent to less than an inch of snow. Behind the front, an arctic air mass will settle into the state for the entire weekend. According to the latest guidance, 850mb temperatures will range between -15 and -20°C, which translate to high temperatures in the teens in the northern part of the state to upper 20s in the southeast. Lows will range from the single digits in the northern and central part of the state to teens in the southeast.
