Thursday Midday Special

For this weekend only:

An arctic cold front will approach this weekend from the NW from the Northern Jet Stream, while a storm system that is currently in Texas, Oklahoma rumbles and forms along the Southern Jet Stream, and takes aim at the East Coast.  The NAM, GFS and EURO all try to merge the two flows into one over the Northeast.  The GFS & EURO are the model choices from the HPC, as they have a similar track of just far enough off the coast to not be a factor for our weather, while the NAM (both the 0z and 12z) runs both have the storm in a perfect spot for snow in the CR/SE/NE regions.  The solution we went with was light snow showers develops for those three regions for Friday night after midnight into Saturday, clearing in the evening.  The rest of the regions will see the snow squalls from the arctic front overnight and into early Saturday Morning.  After that we all COLD ADVECT like nuts.

One thing to remember -- the models are trying to merge these two streams into one, likelihood of that happening slim, but possible.  This forecast takes that into account.
