Synopsis:
An upper level low system will move offshore overnight tonight leaving behind cooler conditions and a blanket of snow on the ground. High pressure will move across the southeastern U.S. providing relatively calm and dry conditions. A strong upper level trough will march toward the eastern U.S. accompanied by a strong cold front. Snow showers and arctic air will be in place for the weekend.
Short-term:
Snow showers will come to end as the upper level low moves off the coast overnight. Skies will clear up from west to east for the morning as an upper level ridge moves into the area. Conditions will be cooler, however; temperatures will remain near normal for this time of the year. Calm conditions will persist until the weekend.
Long-term:
A strong upper level trough will march eastward accompanied by a cold front. This will bring some arctic air and snow showers to the region. A second round of cold air will push into the region on Sunday, potentially bringing the coldest air of the year. Several storms look to impact the Midwest and East Coast over the next few weeks which brings the potential for possible major precipitation events in our area.
