Synopsis:
We'll be seeing some off and on wet weather throughout this week as low and high pressure systems swing through the commonwealth. The high temperatures we saw on Sunday will clear out as a cold front rumbles through on Monday. As expected, highs during the day will cool off a bit behind the front, but warm through the middle of the week. Get outside on Tuesday and Wednesday, though, because the rain makes its next appearance on Thursday with the arrival of another cold front. This will make its way through PA on Thursday and leave us with some lingering showers on Friday and into the weekend.
Mon-Wed:
00Z NAM models show isolated showers ahead of the cold front impacting central and eastern PA in the early morning hours on Monday. These pockets of rain look to break up as a stronger line of showers (associated with the cold front) forms around 15Z and heads eastward. It looks like the eastern portions of PA (east of Centre County) will be impacted by the line of showers, and therefore have a much greater chance of rain tomorrow than areas west of Centre County.
There is still uncertainty about the location of the development of the line, though. Recent WSI RPM models show heavier showers developing around 14Z (an hour earlier than 00Z NAM) over the Laurel Highlands and Centre County. If this is the case, then these areas will likely see rain as well.
After the front moves out, expect cooler, more seasonable temperatures and sunny skies. Get outside Tuesday and Wednesday, because the rain comes back on Thursday!
Thu-Fri:
The chance for showers increases as another cold front looks to sweep through the commonwealth. This is still a ways out, but the front and associated showers look to begin impacting PA late Thursday night into Friday morning. Rain from the front and low pressure system will linger through Friday and into the weekend.
