Friday Afternoon Technical Discussion

Synopsis

Sunny skies will continue through Sunday as we have the chance to see some rain Sunday night and into Monday. Sunshine will return for the beginning part of next week. High temperatures will be slightly below average for the forecast period with the exception of Sunday as it will be very mild. Friday night lows are expected to drop below freezing.

Short Term (Friday Night – Sunday Night)

A strong high pressure system is centered over Pennsylvania currently which is allowing for our sunny skies and slightly below average temperatures. Clear skies overnight will allow for temperatures to dip well below freezing for much of the state and especially for the central and eastern part of the state. A Freeze Warning is in effect for the entire central and eastern part of the state since this is the first freeze of the season. Abundant sunshine Saturday will allow for temperatures to rebound nicely into the upper 50s and low to mid 60s during the day. Increasing clouds Saturday night will keep lows in the 40s. The chance of showers Saturday night and into Sunday morning is also not out of the question but mostly likely, no precipitation will occur. On Sunday, the high pressure system will have moved eastward and out over the Atlantic which will turn our winds out of the southwest bringing in plenty of warm air. High temperatures during the day will be well above average right around 70 degrees. A cold front associated with a low pressure system will be to our west in Ohio Sunday night which will give parts of the central and western part of the state a chance of showers.

Long Term (Monday Morning – Tuesday Night)

The cold front will be passing through the state on Monday giving the entire state to see a chance of showers. By Monday night, the front will be out of the state ending the chance of showers. Skies will begin to clear. High pressure will start to make its way eastward through the beginning part of next week bringing back the sunshine. This high pressure system won't have as high of barometric pressure as the current one over us right now, but it will be good enough to keep our skies clear and our temperatures seasonable and even a few degrees above average as highs will be in the upper 60s.
