Short Term: A cold front is currently bisecting the state. Upper 40's are impacting the western half of the state while temperatures are near 70 in the eastern half of the state. As the cold front passes and the clouds break up temperatures should get below 40 across the majority of the commonwealth. In effect, freeze warnings have been put in place for several counties in western Pennsylvania. Cool and calm conditions will persist for the next several days as high pressure system dominates the forecast.
Long Term: Another cold front will move through the region on Friday. This front will (similarly to the last front) lack precipitation. At the moment, a few showers look to be possible, especially for the northern and western areas of the commonwealth. A cold high pressure will settle into place for the weekend. Overnight, Friday widespread frost can be expected across the entire state as temperatures plummet below freezing for much of the state. A stronger storm system will move in later in the weekend, bringing the chance of unsettled weather.
