Typical Fall Week Ahead

Synopsis:

It was a wet end to the weekend across the state today, but sunshine is on the way! Except for the chance of a shower tomorrow afternoon in southern PA, expect sunshine and warming temperatures until mid-week. On Wednesday, a building low pressure systems approaches from the west, bringing cooler temperatures (though not as cold as this weekend) and the chance for rain. After that system rolls through, high pressure will build back over the state with clearing skies and cool temps.

Short Term:

Current NAM models continue to show showers associated with the departing low pressure system spreading across southeastern PA Monday night into Tuesday morning.  Current WSI RPM models, though, show this system being limited in its development over the mid-Atlantic states.  In fact, these models predict virtually no precipitation from this system on Monday night and Tuesday morning.  I am confident in the WSI RPM prediction - little to no precipitation in PA (including the southeast) on Monday night.

After this system rolls through, our next low pressure system looms from the west.  All models show this system rumbling through the commonwealth Wednesday afternoon, bringing the chance of a shower and near-freezing temperatures Wednesday night.

Long Term:

After the low moves through on Wednesday, high pressure builds over our region.  This pattern will dominate our weather into the weekend with partly cloudy skies, temperatures pushing 60 during the day, and dropping to the mid-30's overnight.
