Cooler today, another warm-up towards the latter half of the week

Synopsis:

A cold front is moving through the Commonwealth this morning, which will bring temperatures back down for today and tomorrow. There will be a few showers moving across the Commonwealth for today as well. By Wednesday, a warm front moves through, and warmer temperatures will prevail through Thursday. Another cold front moves through on Thursday, but no real cold air is expected to settle over Pennsylvania for the foreseeable future.

Short-term:

Showers associated with the cold front are moving through the Commonwealth this morning and afternoon. Conditions will stay breezy, as we have a tight pressure gradient between the area of low pressure to our north (associated with the frontal system) and an area of high pressure to the south. Temperatures will drop behind the front, and overnight lows tonight and tomorrow could be chilly, especially in the north-central mountains. However, by mid-week we will see a warm front moving through, and temperatures will rebound nicely.

Long-term:

By Wednesday, a more southwesterly flow will return over the Commonwealth, as a warm front moves through, and temperatures warm up again. 500-mb height lines will move north again, also allowing warmer temperatures to make a comeback. By Thursday, however, another cold front is expected to sweep across PA, bringing more showers and cooler temperatures behind it. The 540-mb. height line will move into the NW area of PA on Friday, giving them (and the rest of PA) cooler conditions. Even so, there isn't any really cold air to speak of for the foreseeable future, so temperatures should stay seasonably pleasant for the most part.
