Synopsis:
The system currently affecting much of the Commonwealth is moving off fairly quickly. Rain lingers for today, and tonight flurries might mix in for the western half of the state. There is the potential for lake effect snow tonight and tomorrow. Cold temperatures remain in place through Sunday. A warm-up looks to be in store for the start of the next work week.
Short-term:
The steady rain of yesterday is tapering into scattered and isolated showers throughout today. The GFS and WRF are not showing any precipitation for most of the state during tomorrow, but the SREF maintains a slight chance of snow showers from the southwest to the north central parts of the state. There looks to be a slight chance of lake effect snow affecting the northwestern portions of the state, as winds will be from the northwest. However, any chance of precipitation (rain or snow) is minimal by Sunday night. Temperatures will be chilly.
Long-term:
After the weekend, models are beginning to consolidate on a warmer solution with a ridge building across the eastern half of the United States. We're expecting warmer than average temperatures for the beginning of the week, and the next chance of precipitation to be coming with a weak front on Thursday.
