Technical Discussion
Synopsis:
A high pressure system will move out tonight and pave the way for a low pressure system to move up the east coast for the end of the week and the first part of the weekend. A high pressure system will move in for Sunday and the early part of next week, bringing a little warmer temperatures and sunshine.
Short-term(Thurs-Fri)
A low pressure system will move up the coast tonight and hang around off the coast for Thursday and Friday. The GFS is showing the low off the coast and the 540 thickness line dipping into most of the state. This should bring a chance for some snow showers. The NAM shows less precipitation then the GFS. The EURO seems to agree with the NAM with the precipitation amount. I wouldn't be surprised to see a coding of snow on the ground, while the higher elevations could see 1-2 inches.
Long-term(Sat-Sun)
The models are showing lake effect snow as a northwest wind will start to blow behind the front. A high pressure system will move in for Sunday and temperatures will warm up to the 50s during the daytime but overnight lows will dip down into the 20s again.
