Synopsis…
The Commonwealth will enjoy unseasonably mild temperatures and sunny skies associated with a ridge of high pressure that's expected to remain in the area until Saturday. Cold front comes through Sunday bringing a chance of rain and dropping temperatures closer to average.
Short Term (Wed – Sat)…
A pleasant week of weather lies ahead for outdoor enthusiasts and meteorologists alike. A ridge of high pressure over Canada and the Mid-Atlantic states will continue to slowly move towards the Atlantic Seaboard. This will keep temperatures across the state nearly ten degrees above average during the day. Night time temperatures, on the other hand, will remain average for this time of year. MOS outlook looks good. Expect skies to remain mostly sunny during the day and mostly clear during the night. The Commonwealth will see the week's warmest temperatures on Friday and Saturday as weak warm advection precedes a weak trough of low pressure.
Long Term (Sun)...
The front within this trough will be accompanied by light to moderate precipitation and clouds on Sunday. After passing, expect cooler, more seasonable temperatures. Northwest zones may see lake enhanced rain showers. We tended to use the GFS throughout the entire forecasting shift.
