Synopsis...
A strong ridge of high pressure is currently built in to the region with some gorgeous late autumn weather - warmer than normal temperatures and clear skies will persist over the region into Saturday. Later in the weekend, a weak frontal passage and a small wave moving up the boundary may bring some precipitation by late Sunday into Monday time frame.
Short Term (through Saturday)...
Not a whole lot to talk about as the beautiful weather continues over the commonwealth. Highs in the upper 50's to low 60's for the next few days and lows in the upper 20's to mid 30's across the state will be the story into Saturday. Persistence forecasting looks good during this portion of the forecast period. Agree with the previous shift that clouds may begin to roll in later in the day on Saturday based on the current NAM and GFS runs.
Long Term (Sunday - Monday)...
A weak frontal passage will occur at some point during this forecast period but timing of the event is very tricky at this point. The 6z runs of the NAM and GFS both have the front approaching at or around 0z on Monday but this may change with later runs. The GFS tries to ride a small low pressure system northeast along the boundary later on the day on Monday into Tuesday but once again the details of this will likely change with future runs. For now, will add a chance of showers into the forecast for much of the region for later in the day Sunday and much of the day Monday as this seems to be the most prudent forecast at this point.
