TECHNICAL DISCUSSION

…Synopsis…

A low hovering over the Midwest will bring precipitation for the beginning and end of the week and end of the week. The front remains stationary for the beginning of the week until a warm front appears and moves into PA. The middle of the week should be relatively pleasant with sunny skies and warm temperatures due to a high north of PA. The AO and NAO are presently negative which could produce a lot of precipitation in the upcoming week.

…Short term…

Precipitation will be evident the next couple of days until a high moves in producing warm nice weather. The warm sector of a low will be sweeping in the middle of the week adding to the effects of the nice weather. Tuesday and Wednesday could see some thunderstorms ahead of the approaching warm front. Relatively mild weather and warm air advection will be noticeable at times during the week. The 12Z GFS and European models agree on the precipitation during the beginning and end of the week with nice weather in between.

…Long Term…

The low that is presently over the middle of the U.S. will be moving into the northeast and eventually into the Canada. Another wave of positive vorticity will be evident when another low over the middle of the U.S. comes into the northeast. This will also bring precipitation on Friday and the weekend. Right now 500 mb heights are warmer than normal, so this could add to some of the warmer effects that we may see for the next week.
