Synopsis
After a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain falls throughout Tuesday morning, another batch of a wintry mix should affect the region Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Most of the frozen precipitation will affect the northern areas. By Wednesday afternoon, the storm should be out of the way. High pressure will be over the region on Thursday and Friday before another storm rolls in on the weekend.
Short Term (Tuesday – Wednesday)
A shortwave will continue to affect the region until Tuesday afternoon, but the break in precipitation will not last long. The storm system heading up from the Midwest should affect our region starting Tuesday night, with a mix of wintry precipitation. Much of the northern areas will see snow and sleet. To the South, we expect a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and rain. Some regions could see up to ¾ of an inch of ice. The storm should be out of the region by Wednesday afternoon.
Mid-term (Thursday – Friday)
As high pressure builds into the region on Thursday, expect a mix of sun and clouds. Thursday and Friday should be colder as well.
Long Term (Saturday-Saturday Night)
The models are currently showing a coastal storm to move into the region around Saturday. As of now, the Eastern part of the state has the highest chance for snow.
