Synopsis
The low pressure system that affected the region over the night time hours will continue to pull away to the northern Atlantic. This system is serving to usher in a fresh arctic air mass and it will be well below normal for the next several days. The weather pattern quiets down with a high pressure system building over the Northeast. The next chance for precipitation, albeit small, comes Saturday from a clipper moving to our north.
Short term
All precipitation from the wintry low that just passed through our area should have pretty much wrapped up across the state, save for a few lingering snow showers in the West. We will still feel the effects of the storm in the form of wind. The strong pressure gradient behind the storm is bringing some pretty windy conditions, especially in the eastern half of Pa. prompting some NWS wind advisories. Our skies should contain a mix of sun and clouds on Tuesday. The fresh artic air mass hangs over the region for the next couple of days into Thursday, which keeps it cold but dry and mostly sunny.
Long term
For Friday, the trough breaks down slightly and temperatures should moderate a tad. The Storm system that has been on the models for the past week continues to appear as though it should stay sufficiently to the south to not affect the state at all. There is a chance for a few showers on Saturday with a clipper that passes north of us in Canada. It seems moisture starved and any snow will probably have a difficult time making it over the mountains. Behind this system, another quick shot of cold air comes down, but then we see signs of a ridge, and a pattern change coming.
