Synopsis:
Temperatures have plummeted behind the cold front that moved through Wednesday afternoon. With clear skies and cold air advection (CAA) continuing through the overnight hours, lows in the teens to single digits are likely. On Thursday, temperatures will rebound as CAA ends and the flow turns more southerly as a surface high pressure system builds in. However, this high pressure system will be short lived as a low-pressure system will approach from the south on Friday night in Saturday bringing warmer temperatures. The copious amounts of rain along with gusty winds will enter the area Saturday evening into Sunday.
Short Term (Thursday evening)
Gusty northwest winds will continue over the air until Thursday morning. As a strong 1040 mb surface high pressure build in from west, winds will decrease and high temperatures will approach the mid to upper 30's Thursday. Clouds along with warm air advection Thursday evening will prevent temperature from dropping off too quickly.
Mid Term (Through Sunday morning)
With warm air advection increasing, high temperatures will be much warmer on Friday. Late Friday evening, a low pressure system forming over Midwest will approach the area from the west. This will place most of the state in warm sector on Saturday which will cause another day of above normal temperatures. Precipitation will most likely hold off until Sunday morning until precipitation associated with a cold front passage on Sunday.
Long Term (Through Wednesday)
After the cold front associated with the low pressure system clears the state Sunday evening, another area of high pressure will build in from southern Canada. This Canadian high pressure system will control the area's weather on Monday and Tuesday, promoting quiet and calm condition with temperatures near normal. The next low pressure system will move into the Great Lakes area, putting the state in the warm sector on Wednesday.
