Technical Discussion for the Monday afternoon Forecasting shift.
The weather is going to be controlled for the next day or so by a large high pressure system sitting over the eastern seaboard. The next weather maker is currently digging into the northern plains and the vorticity maximum should pass north of Pennsylvania. However, the cold front associated with this low will move through the state Tuesday night and into Wednesday. We think the most of the precipitation is going to be evaporated away by time the front gets to State College with only a slight chance of a stray shower. Upsloping regions such as the Laurel highlands could see more rainfall but I severely doubt anything will be significant. Also, it's likely that rain will develop in the SE and CR regions, especially if the front moves in after sunrise.
It will be breezy both ahead and behind this cold front with the heaviest wind occurring just ahead of the front. The winds will be out of the South ahead and West behind and the southerly winds will create an environment for high temperatures tomorrow. I went 3 degrees above MOS. Temperatures will be much colder behind the front but watch out for cloud cover and wind when deriving you overnight lows for Wednesday and Thursday. The next weather maker will approach the region but I fell the rain will hold off until the weekend. Have Fun Forecasting!
