Forecast Discussion

Synopsis...

Rain and chilly temperatures are in store for the next couple of days. Temperatures will slowly warm up to more seasonable conditions for this time of year, with some regions topping out at 70 by Friday. Also expect much clearer weather by the weekend.

Short Term...

The WRF accurately shows an offshore low pressure system helping to funnel in cold Canadian air... this system will remain there through Wednesday and keep temperatures well below average on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also indicated by the WRF, and by 18Z GFS is a large upper-level low pressure system. Although it seems relatively weak, it is bringing up just enough Gulf Moisture to bring a consistent light shower throughout the state, as we saw on Monday. This steady light rain will continue through many regions on Tuesday, and should lessen on Wednesday. The WRF is also indicating a reformation to the north late Wednesday night into Thursday. There may be a scattered shower associated with this system on Thursday morning, but things look to clear up in terms of precipitation by then. The relocation will also allow for temperatures to climb, as a WSW flow builds in behind it.

Long Term...

Cloudy skies early Thursday will slowly transition to much clearer skies by Friday. A dry air mass will be building in behind said upper-level low pressure system by the end of the week. Temperatures may be a bit above average on Friday. A wind shift though is expected to take place some time between Friday night into Saturday. Saturday still looks to be void of weather, but a slightly more WNW flow will bring temperatures down around average, and should stay that way for the weekend. (All in all, the weekend looks to be fantastic!)
