Technical Forecast
Synopsis:
A high pressure system will move out of the area, and a cold front will move through. The cold front will bring showers throughout the state. The low pressure will then strengthen off the coast and bring windy conditions to the region on Friday and Saturday. The rain should hold off, and then an area of high pressure will move into the Commonwealth and provide a beautiful autumn-like weekend.
Short-term(Thursday-Friday)
A cold front will move through the area, and as of the 12z GFS run, it has the rain starting to come through during the early afternoon hours. The 12z NAM has 2 inches of rain forecasted for southeast PA, and about a half of an inch of the rest of the state. Im leaning towards the GFS which only has a quarter-inch of rain, as I don't think the low will strengthen early like the NAM has. The front will be gone by late Thursday and Friday should be rain free. The GFS shows some leftover showers, but I think most of us should stay rain free. The low will strengthen off the coast and bring a northwest wind. The NAM is showing wind speeds of 20 mph for Saturday, and Friday and Saturday should both be windy events. The MOS shows low temperatures for these days in the low 40s, and the GFS 850s, only are at 3 degrees Celsius for these days.
Long-term(Saturday-Sunday)
An area of high pressure will move into the region and should provide a nice weekend. The wind will be sticking around for Saturday, and the GFS is also showing a few low level clouds. Sunday is the hall-of-fame day, and the high pressure should be stationed right over us and bring a sunny sky and temperatures in the 60s.
