Synopsis...
A broad area of low pressure will be moving through the commonwealth Thursday. Scattered light rain showers are expected for most areas especially in the western regions, while the east can expect the rain to come later but more intensely. Friday and the weekend are looking great!
Short Term...
A retreating high pressure system overnight tonight into Thursday will make way for a weak low pressure system coming from the Ohio Valley. This system is not very strong, but LIs and CAPEs are high enough that most areas should see a light rain shower at some point during the day. Areas to the east, however, will be affected by a much stronger low pressure system moving up the coast. This system will not bring rain until after 15Z or so, based on the WRF. Areas in the SE can expect around a half inch of rain, with areas to the west and north of this region receiving a bit less. Both systems will move out of the commonwealth overnight Thursday into Friday. A strong NW flow will build in behind the passage of these systems. Friday looks to be a beautiful and mostly clear day, with temperatures mild and seasonable for this time of year.
Long Term...
Not a whole lot to put here, other than that the weekend looks to be fantastic! The NW flow will continue into Saturday, setting the stage for an identical day on Friday, with clear skies and temperatures close to average for this time of year. The WRF picks up a wind shift to the SW Saturday night into Sunday. This, with MOS readings, suggests that Sunday will be about 5-7 degrees warmer from Saturday. Aside from the wind shift, expect another sunny and awesome fall day. The SW flow will keep temperatures around 60 degrees for most areas, with some spots regionally warmer, through the beginning of next week. A late shower may build in late Monday night, but doesn't look to be too significant initially. I left for the time being an isolated chance of rain for most overnight. This will be something to watch.
