Synopsis
A cold front will move through the state for the day on Thursday and help spark a couple of showers. Behind the front, a cool northwest wind, will bring below average temperatures and windy conditions for Friday. A high pressure system will move in for the day on Saturday and help bring temperatures back to normal. A warm front will then move through for Sunday bringing the next chance for a shower.
Short-term(Thurs-Fri)
An approaching cold front will move into the state on Thursday. Both the NAM and GFS have this front moving through during the afternoon. Since the dewpoints are so low and the atmosphere so dry, there shouldn't be too much in the way of precipitation with this front. There still is a chance for an isolated shower and in the highest elevations, a snow shower. Behind this front, a chilly northwest wind will help the wind to pick up and also keep temperatures only in the 50s. The chance of rain should be gone and there will be only a few leftover high clouds. Overnight lows Friday night will dip into the 30s, with the cold spots even getting as low as the upper 20s.
Long-term(Sat-Sun)
A high pressure system moves in for Saturday and this will bring a mostly sunny sky and temperatures back into the upper 50s and lower 60s. The GFS 850s are showing 10 degrees so there is warm advection. A warm front will move through on Sunday and should bring an increase of clouds. Temperatures stay on the increase with some spots to the southeast getting to 70 degrees. The warm front could spark a few showers off, but the models both agree it shouldn't be anything more than a tenth of an inch.
