                                                       Techincal Discussion

Synopsis

A cut off area of low pressure will continue to bring a chance for showers into the first part of Thursday. A ridge of high pressure will then move in for the end of the week and the weekend, bringing above average temperatures and plenty of sunshine.

Short-term(Thursday-Friday)

An area of low pressure has been stalled to our east and has been providing the state will clouds and periods of rain. The models have been in consensius that the low pressure will move out of the region by later Thursday. The GFS still has showers during the morning and the NAM has showers in the northeast during the morning. The GFS has the clouds vacating the region by the afternoon and temperatures could get up to near 60, as the sun should break through later in the day. The ridge will build in for the day on Friday and raise temperatures. A northwest breeze and downsloping winds should help temperatures in the eastern part of the state get to near or above the 70 degree mark. The models also show plenty of sunshine across the state with no sign of rain.

Long-term(Friday-Saturday)

The area of high pressure will dominate the state for the weekend as GFS 850s are showing 12-14 degrees over Saturday and Sunday. The models show sunshine for Saturday, but the GFS shows a few clouds in the north for Sunday. Otherwise temperatures across the state will be in the 70s, and there is no precipation in the near future.
