Synopsis...
Rain showers that swept through the area earlier this morning are now leaving the area. A more zonal flow will set up over North America for the forecast period with small shortwaves and minor low pressure systems moving west to east through the country.
Short term...
Will agree with the previous shift that a slight chance of showers may continue for the remainder of the afternoon, but most of the activity associated with the fast-moving low is by the area now. Behind the low, a westerly flow with gusty winds in the afternoon will set up for Friday and Saturday with mostly clear skies across the region. The only exception is the far NW region of the state as some lake effect activity could stick around for most of the day on Friday. Our friends in Erie, and especially Meadville, may even see a few snowflakes tonight.
Long term...
Moderating temperatures on saturday from high pressure to our southeast will disappear by Sunday as a new system approaches from our west. Thus, a chance of showers for Sunday afternoon through the day on Monday looks to be a good bet as timing and location of the low are far from certain at this point, as the GFS and DGEX would agree with. Later shifts will have to work out the details..
